Akweya TV wants to raise N10m (about US$25,000) to continue producing TV content that draws on authentic African history and solutions. Akweya TV believes that most of the developmental challenges in Africa seem to arise from the wholesale adoption of foreign cultures and languages, while abandoning the values and principles in our cultures. African ways of life solved problems in the past without prisons and periodic elections. Communities still abound where life is pristine, fresh and in tune with nature. In those communities, the family is the primary unit of society. Governance is established by selecting representatives of each family. Akweya is one of such communities. Akweya is a place where dance and music are always present. When A person is found guilty of violating the laws and rules of the community, everyone withdraws commercial or social relations with the guilty person for a specified period as a punishment, or the guilty person pays a fine. Even in modern times, when electricity bills are served on a hamlet collectively, everyone pays their predetermined share or risk having an ancestral masquerade summoned to enforce collection. Naming and shaming has kept Akweya free of extreme crimes. Akweya TV promotes and celebrates many of these ideals, and uses the Akweya experience to connect with other African cultures as windows for defining the Africa of the future. It will be an Africa that defines its own problems and looks into its rich belly for solutions and innovations. Akweya TV is on YouTube (www.YouTube.com/AkweyaTV) and also airs on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). We have an Akweya Language Service where we speak Akweya and an English Service where we connect with those who do not speak Akweya. On Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, we are @AkweyaTV. We need your support to continue producing quality content. We pay staff salaries and travel to record interviews and research. We also pay for airtime on TV. With your support, the documentation and teaching of Akweya language will also commence in earnest. Thank you in anticipation of your support. Even if you do not donate, you can support by sharing this information and even subscribing to our channel. Thanks. AKWEYA TV....Including you!
